Save the date: Wednesday, February 24, for International EBM Day & A Front 242 Tribute Night!

Nephilim Halls Productions and Camera Obscura are proud to present the FIRST International EBM Day celebration in Hawaii! Held on 24/2, this night features straight-up old-school industrial music from the pioneer bands like Front 242, Einstürzende Neubauten, Cabaret Voltaire, Throbbing Gristle, Skinny Puppy, Laibach, Klinik, SPK and more, who helped shape the beginnings of the genre.

The term “industrial music” was coined in the mid-1970s with the founding of Industrial Records by Genesis P-Orridge of Throbbing Gristle and Monte Cazazza; on Throbbing Gristle’s debut album The Second Annual Report, they coined the slogan “industrial music for industrial people”.

AllMusic defines industrial as the “most abrasive and aggressive fusion of rock and electronic music”; “initially a blend of avant-garde electronics experiments (tape music, musique concrète, white noise, synthesizers, sequencers, etc.) and punk provocation”.

On this special night, we acknowledge our roots with essential classic industrial sets by three of Honolulu’s veteran dark DJs:

DJ Nocturna
DJ Dat-Mot
DJ Du Nord

Please join us!

When: Wednesday, February 24 from 9 p.m.-2 a.m.
Where: NextDoor, 43 N. Hotel Street
Cost: $5 at the door
21+ are welcome.
